Worth keeping my megadrive?

I'm having a clearout and found my megadrive. Think it's one from the 80's early 90's made in japan: one with the purple trim.

I'm not thinking twice about chucking the ps1 but the MD feels a bit special. Shall I chuck it aswell and get over it lol? Got some games too

Re: Worth keeping my megadrive?

Jap megadrive 1 and megadrive 2

I'd keep it, the original is still the best version and much better than the crappy looking megadrive 2, the same can be said of the megacd the machine itself was crap imo but the megacd 1 looked lovely sitting under a megadrive 1 whereas the megacd 2 and megadrive 2 connected side by side looked pappy in comparison.

On the same subject that ps1 you're chucking, if it's the original version and not the slimline psone i'd keep it too, funny how the original versions of these machines always seem to look better than the stripped down, cheaper, later released versions which might do the same thing but don't look as good doing it.

Re: Worth keeping my megadrive?

Chucked my old Japanese one a wjile back because it stopped working . My UK one has also given up the ghost as well so i'm now MD less. Got loads of games though (stuff like Ghouls n' Ghosts, Strider, Eswat, Wonder Boy, Micro Machines, Hellfire, the Sonics etc.) with most of them Japanese and in almost new condition, along with instructions.

I do prefer the original design, however the MD2 and Mega CD combo is pretty good.

Re: Worth keeping my megadrive?

Yeh it's mega drive 1 as in the pic you posted. In lovely condition too I might add. Got one original controller (the fat one) and the "newer" 6 button. Have around 6 games too.

Hmm ps1 is original too no games around though. Hmm I never really did pat much attention to it. Ok last time bin or keep? Is it ever gonna worth anything lol?

Keep them! In my loft I have a Speccy 48K, Sega Mega Drive and the Mega CD and Sega Saturn. Plus loads of games. Never going to play them again or even look at them but would never part with them!
