Old PC Space Side-Scroller...

.... HELP!

I've had one of those moment where I've thought of an ace game I used to play, and I can't remember the name of it

The basis of what I can remember, bear in mind some of this could be complete rubbish () is a side-scrolling, spaceship, sort of RPG elements, colourful bright graphics, (i.e rather than dull black and grey), i think the spaceship was blue, you could buy powerups and such at space stations... Round the late 90's, early 00's I would imagine, so not exactly "retro", but it's getting there. I'm sure I had it off a PC mag demo disc, but again this is purely speculation

any ideas?

I'll add any more random facts as and when I remember them...

I think the name began with an "I"

Tyrian (or Tyrian 2000) ticks most of those boxes. Although I think it's a vertical scroller so maybe not...
