help setting up atari 2600 with projector

Hello,

I'm trying to connect an old woodgrain Atari 2600 to my Panasonic AX-200 projector using the built in co-ax cable with a RCA adaptor. I've plugged this in to the Panasonic and selected the RCA video input on the projector but don't get any signal when I turn it on. Am I doing something wrong or has the Atari given up the ghost do you think?

Any help appreciated

Cheers.

Hey, your first post after 4 years I would presume your atari has an rf out and you are looking to connect to your projector using the composite in. As you have guessed it, neither are compatible. Not too sure what connections would be available to the 2600 so cant help you with that.

Good luck

I'm also not sure what signal(s) the Atari 2600 is capable of outputting, so I cannot comment on that.

But one way around it would be to connect the Atari to a PC with a TV capture card. Tune the capture card into the Atari's signal and then just plug your projector into the PC.

Re: help setting up atari 2600 with projector

if you don't mind opening the console up you should find one of the connections going into the modulator (the shiny metal box that provides RF) is composite. You can normally connect to that and an earth to give you a composite signal. You should be able to do something similar for an audio feed. I can't imagine anything more horrible than a vcs connected to a projector though. Each pixel will be about the size of your fist

Emulation would be far better on a projector.
