Retro genres revisited: Top down racing game discussion

Thought i'd start a couple of discussion threads for the genres which have disappeared from the gaming radar in recent times, there is a new xbox 360 live arcade game called scrap metal Here which hopes to rekindle past glories, but in this section we are interested only in the past competition and on that note which games do you miss fro the top down racing genre?

For me apart from the obvious micro machines etc i loved the following :-

YouTube - Amiga Longplay [475] ATR - All Terrain RacingYouTube - Amiga Longplay [372] Nitro
YouTube - Amiga Longplay [168] Super Cars IIhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AJdPN0XA-E

My personal favourite was Turbo trax, also an amiga game though sadly i can't find a youtube clip of that.

My Favorite was "Powerdrive Rally" on the Jaguar!

I played it recently and still loved it

Super cars II was great fun.

Another I always wanted but only had a one track demo of was Indy Heat, me nad my brother must have played that demo to death.

The first track on this vid was the track on the demo.

I think Supercars 2 was the pick of the genre for me (I much preferred it to Micro Machines).

I also liked BMX Racers on the C64 (from the £1.99 Mastertronic range).

Edit: does Spyhunter count as a "racer"?

Super Sprint is my all-time favourite in the arcades or on Amiga. BMX Simulator on the Spectrum or C64. Both were fun. I preferred Super Cars I to II on the Amiga but can't remember why now.
