Dreamcast help!

Hello all

As so many of us do we have those moments where we put down our xbox 360/playstation3 etc pads and choose abit of old skool gaming. I had one such moment yesterday, so dug out my Dreamcast hooked it up wacked in Ready 2 Rumble boxing and hey presto ........... it didnt work!

Im using a Samsung R8 Series LE19R86BD and my Dreamcast is being run through the aerial lead, im i just being thick and missing some obvious reason why it isnt working? Tried the switch on the aerial lead and still nothing (Ill be honest i never really understood what that was for)! Any ideas or suggestions fhow to sort this or for a new lead that dosnt need to be run through the aerial?

Cheer guys

Sorry for being obvious, but did you try and tune your tv in OK ? Besides the RF connection is rubbish, you should invest a few quid in atleast a RGB scart etc or preferabaly the VGA cable you can get for them.

Re: Dreamcast help!

EBay is your best bet but Amazon usually have some Marketplace sellers who can still supply RGB SCART DC leads. Typical price is <£10.

There are some dodgy DC RGB leads out there. I've had at least four - some with badly made plugs ends that have to be forced home and some that were just incorrectly wired. I've read (so don't quote me on this) that the plug end problems are due to later Jap/Asian DCs having a slightly different output socket design and therefore cables made for them do not fit other DCs as well as they should. This could well be rubbish and it is simply a matter of poor manufacturing quality but I mention it just FYI.

One thing to remember is that DC RGB SCART lead work ONLY with a RGB SCART socket. If you use them with a non-RGB SCART socket you'll just get a blank or black screen (it's to do with the DC's pinout design).

If you want the option of Composite output from a DC RGB SCART cable buy one with a built in AV block (3 RCA sockets: Yellow for Composite video, White/Red for L/R audio). Unfortunately these types of cable are the very ones I've had most trouble with.
