Sustainable Energy

I wanted to draw this book (also available as a free download) to the attention of followers of this forum. It can be found at

David MacKay: Sustainable Energy - without the hot air: Home

It is a book which shows how we use energy in our modern lifestyles from driving a car, using a mobile phone charger to aeroplane flight and food production. It is written by a physicist and at all times uses the fundamental physics of the processes involved (thermodynamics, aerodynamics etc.) to explain how energy is generated and used in power generation, aeroplane flight, driving etc. The main question is, can we sustainably generate this amounts of energy we currently use?

In a world of spin (on both sides of the global warming and sustainable energy debate), this is without doubt the most impressive source of facts available and I highly recommend it to everyone.

For once there is no arguing with these numbers!
