Signing off because of fanatical moderators

I've had enough of this gross stupidity by the mods here: "post deleted, Reason: MMGW denial is no longer tolerated on this forum" It's one thing to object to a contrary viewpoint, but it's something else again to censor genuine debate based on a deeply held belief system. I will leave you all to it but I relish the day in the not too distant future when this whole sorry saga of 'global warming' is demolished by Nature and common sense. There's going to be a lot of stupid looking people regretting much of what they've said and written.

Although I totally disagree with your opinion, I do think this seems harsh

At the end of the day though, it's down to what the site owner wants.

Now I guess I'll never find out which "Schwarz" you were talking about in the other thread. The spice magnate, maybe?

Re: Signing off because of fanatical moderators

It was not my intention to drive you way. I think I gave you ample warning.

I hoped that a clarification of the rules would instill some self discipline.

This forum is not about MMGW denial.

You still seem completely unable to grasp this simple fact.

You insisted on repeating your personal beliefs about MMGW and continued actively trolling these same beliefs.

I tried to be as fair as possible and was very reluctant to delete anybody's posts on my first full day as Moderator.

Had I been the fanatic you claim it would have been a bloodbath. Your posts would have been dimly remembered history on the cutting room floor.

You are hoist by your own petard.

Perhaps your absence will allow others to step forward and contribute positively to the discussions. Without the fear of being shouted down by a blinkered denialist.

You are always welcome to enter into the discussions here if you can contain your own agenda. On past form I seriously doubt that you can.

Bleary volunteered to walk the plank after having two very short denialist posts deleted.

It doesn't show much commitment to his agenda or belief in his denialist theories.

Perhaps he or she was running out of denialist links.

The point is not that its a matter of opposing opinions. One one side there is the scientists of Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Russia, the UK and the US.

And there's people who are emotionally opposed to the idea that they might have to save money and consume less resources and who clutch at any of the many unfounded conflicting opposing notions. They will ignore the rational evidence and continue to quote 'news workers' and people from websites with names like 'anenglishmanshomeishiscastle dot com' as if they have equivalent weight to people who have studied climatology professionally all their lives and have qualifications to prove it and mountains of evidence to back up their claims.

I have yet to find any one of these people who can give me a previous example of when such an overwhelming scientific consensus has been wrong.

To try and con people on the basis of misleading and conflicting evidence is morally wrong and should not be tolerated.

In terms of forum etiquette, to come on a forum dedicated to trying to find ways to combat MMGW and try and pretend that one of the many conflicting alternative notions holds is trolling anyway.

The brief of this forum is to discuss ways and means of combatting man made global warming and the sticky thread at the top of the page includes the following which should be self explanatory.

Re: Signing off because of fanatical moderators

A note from me with regard to the subject of this thread. The moderators are not fanatical. They are simply doing their (unpaid) job according to the forum rules set out by me.
This is a home consumer electronics forum. Electronics consume electricity and I think it's relevant to address the issue of the resulting effect on the environment.
In accepting that MMGW exists, I am simply following the consensus of opinion of the world's scientists.
For the sake of my children, I sincerely hope they and I are wrong in believing that MMGW exists. If that means I look stupid then, hey, that's a small price to pay.

By submitting denial posts, you are breaking the forum rules because the remit of this forum is, as has been stated, how to combat the issue.
It's similar to submitting posts in the subwoofers forum that subwoofers are not necessary in home cinema. The post would be considered against the remit of the forum. And it would also be considered trolling because would likely annoy many people who, from their own experience, and from the remit of Dolby, DTS etc. know that subwoofers are necessary in home cinema.

While I regret that any forum member decides to leave because they do not like the way the forum is run, I believe that the remit of the forum is correct, the rules are sensible and reasonable and they are enforced sensibly and reasonably by the moderators. That's not to say that constructive criticism won't be listened to, because it will.
