Are patio heaters the new environmental enemy, destroying the planet so we can enjoy a barbecue in T-shirts, or just an easy target?

How does my wood burning chiminea rate in contrast?
I only use renewable wood from the bottom of my garden. But I guess I am pumping out carbon emissions....

Mind you, patio heater or not, who has sat outside this summer anyway?

Re: The New 4x4's?

It depends on where you are. If you are in the middle of the woods and there is no other heat source close by then burning a fire or similar heat source for warmth to survive is not waste.

The whole Issue of patio heaters is about Heating outside areas where the air is "not trapped" is being constantly cooled thus constantly warming from the heater. The other part to why it is so controversial is the fact that you have a warm room not five feet from where you are. Thus all you have to do is go in to warm up. In a closed area it is easy to heat with very little energy compared to heating the outdoors. the energy consumed is off the charts for out doors when in comparison with indoors. It is sheer stupidity to waste a limited resource just to meet your fancy.(Loz I do not know if the burner you use is patio heater or not so I am not directing the stupidity remark at you. I am directing it the people who choose not to use common sense in regards to fulfilling their "fancy."

Re: The New 4x4's?

I have a collection of jumpers, down jackets and waistcoats.
Suitable for cool early/late summer evenings down to below -30C.
Down clothing is very flexible and does not impede arm movements when lifting a glass of real ale. (even when frozen solid in the glass)
Sawing at an organically grown snack cooked indoors and brought outside to freeze dry in August is no problem when suitably attired.

I also have a lean-to solar conservatory. Which feels just like out of doors and holds the sun's heat late into the evening while stopping draughts completely. It is also insect proof!

So: Who needs a patio heater?
Lager swilling persons with tattoos and bare arms covered in goosebumps where their t-shirts don't reach their builder's crease. And that's only the women.

Re: The New 4x4's?

"Status Symbol" "Delusional Identity" the Delusional Identity would have been the result of brainwashing by advertisement. "Buy this BE Happy"

Or "I am somebody because I can and you can't" related to who has more money you or me kind of thing.

speaking of the New 4x4 I saw a "remote control electric golf bag!" on the local golf course. What a waste he could carry it just fine. It goes to show above statement that I have pointed out Status and such.
