Re: Cheap LED bulbs at Lidl

no, it wasn't spam... so please edit your comment.

For whatever reason, Lidl decided to pull the items from their shelves, and hence the ad on their website too.

But if you don't believe me, I still have the paper one

If they pulled it from there shelves then the link would be spam since your advertising something that they do not carry.

I clicked on it shortly after you posted the link and its not valid its your "Link" that should be edited.

It should have reflected something like this:

"Recently said company was offering led light bulbs real cheap"

then show price comparison between the competitors current pricing and the pricing of said site.

This would not be spam

For you are showing a comparison on price differences of multiple companies thus not really favoring one

Re: Cheap LED bulbs at Lidl

I think it's a bit harsh to accuse him of spam, especially as there is no suggestion he has any link with Lidl.

I tried the link shortly after it was posted, and got asked for my postcode, so at first I assumed the LED bulb offer was restricted to certain regions when I couldn't find them. But I'm quite happy with his explanation that Lidl removed the items for some reason.

I have some 50W halogen GU10 bulbs whch I would like to replace with LED alternatives. I suspect it's still a bit early for this. I did find some 60 LED GU10 bulbs on ebay, but I wasn't entirely convinced by the specifications so it didn't seem worth posting the link here. Perhaps in another year or two...

Re: Cheap LED bulbs at Lidl

Hey, I was just trying to do people a favour.

People in the UK (this is a UK forum) know how Lidl work. You grab things while you can, they don't carry these things as stock items. Once they are gone, they are gone. Often on the first day of sale.

I have no idea why they pulled the LED's in this case. I never checked that link after posting it (when it worked). I did go to the store on the day it was advertised for, but they had none in stock.

As a matter of interest, what were they offering?

Sorry, their paper ad has now gone out with the recycling

From memory they had
GU10
MR16
ES14 (SES)
and normal ES

All 18 LED
All £3.99 each - which isn't bad price, and they had an interesting range you don't normally see in the shops (which is mainly just GU10)

hopefully they will reappear at a later date. I assume the shipments didn't come through in time.

Re: Cheap LED bulbs at Lidl

I think thats a bit more than harsh to accuse a respected prominent member of such dastardly deeds especially when they are just trying to pass on info of a bargain to help other members and have no control over what Lidl decide to do with their Ad. Of course you would never get spam from the good ol US of A would you ?

Re: Cheap LED bulbs at Lidl

Give you an Idea of cost of a led bulb to re place a 60 watt equivelent ranges about 46$ per bulb a CFL is 6$ max here. I am not sure of the conversion to your UK conversion.

general use lights above are to be used as you would CFL thus why the price I been only able to locate one company that makes this type so far.

There are plenty of "spot light" LEDs which run around 7$ or so. These lights for lighting large areas are inefficient for you need many of them. which adds up.

Sould always check your link when posting anyway to be sure they work properly.

spam may have been unitentional then. I never actually acused LOZ of being a represenetive of said company. Where in the following "Blue" line did I say loz was a represenetive or salesman? I was saying he was advertising something the site did not carry. It does not matter that I did or did not know how Libi runs there business. If anything, Loz should have given a valid time frame as to how long the sale might last and when he heard about it to give other people here an idea how long it is valid, so that we would know when the link was still valid or not.

"If they pulled it from there shelves then the link would be spam since your advertising something that they do not carry"

There was nothing harsh about it.

here are some others definition of spam the first link note section regarding spam
http://nawcc-mb.com/rules.htm#4
http://compnetworking.about.com/libr...bldef-spam.htm
http://www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi?C=553744

I like this one http://beta.net4.in/net4app/aspx/gen...pamPolicy.aspx
for it is hitting on the head as to why i used the "" I was refering to what was written and the link itself. Not dirrectly at Loz.
It has to do with being advertising related to led bulbs loosly related to the forum.

This discusion could have been avoided if it had been added to the LED Thread that is reletivily recent topic. that way the information was related to the topic at hand.

http://beta.net4.in/net4app/aspx/gen...pamPolicy.aspx

Keep in mind that I never accused Loz. I was pointing out that the nature of how it was writen was exactly how spam is written

Now that this has gone into the discusion mode and Loz has clarified it goes to show that it is not spam I was basing the origional post based on how it was writen. I do not participate in the electronic portions
So I do not know loz contributions elswhere on this site

I am in no way moderating I was giving suggestions as to how it could have been writen so as not to appear as spam

Re: Cheap LED bulbs at Lidl

Corey

Your heart is in the right place but Lidl is just another low end, low-price, Germany-based international discount supermarket chain which offers goods for only one week at a time.

They have an infuriating habit of listing only next weeks "bargains" at their stores. It is impossible to see what is available during the present week unless one has their last week's store newspaper. If you haven't received a newspaper because you live outside the catchment area then you have no idea what one will find inside the store.

"Bargains" seem local (and are certainly only nationally available at best) and all are short-lived based on often-poor stock levels and local demand.

Re: Cheap LED bulbs at Lidl

Since this turned out to be another LED thread here is something else I just stumbled onto regarding "Spot light" LED

Due to its "spotlight" nature though it would take several to many to light a fair size room thus through accumulation effect exceed the energy use of a "broad area light."
This link below is the one i found the following link for the 1000 lumen "spotlight"
http://www.7gen.com/news-article-sum...00-lumens/2268
http://www.physorg.com/news93198212.html
Here is the home page of the company that made this break through
http://www.osram-os.com/

Dragon-fish style note the Luminosity section this is the key to how bright the light output.
http://www.theledlight.com/2dragon-fish.html

This one is only 300 lumen.
http://www.theledlight.com/gb605w.html

This one Shows the cost for the replacement = to 75w indecent to give you an idea of cost that is related to replacing a standard light source with an energy efficient replacement that does not fit "spotlight" category

loz is a long term member of the site and as such can be pretty much trusted to not "knowingly" post anything even remotely coming close to spam

I personally draw the line when you start quoting other sites definitions of what is and isn't spam though, if you believe any post to be spam, contentious, rude etc then please use the report post link
bottom left on each post and the moderators will deal thanks.
