Question Did anyone see Newsnight last night???

Did anyone see 'Question Time' the BBC1 last night??

Davina McCall was on the panel and made a comment which riled me but it sums up the 'celebrity muppet' attitude to climate change and the enviroment.

Her serious comment on people who don't believe in MMGlobal warming;

'is just an excuse not do bother doing their re-cycling'

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/question_time/
The link to the podcast is above and the climate change piece is approx 19minutes in.

I personally am still skeptical about the MMGW issue but am an avid recycler and hate waste and the causes of pollution. The comment above makes me think that if this is the level of intellegence that believes in MMGW (and the whole celebrity MMGW bandwagon) i think i'll stay skeptical !!!

what do you folks think???

I think you are right to be sceptical about celebrities (they'll endorse anything, as Chris Morris proved), but wrong to be sceptical about MMGW, which is backed by a huge amount of very solid science.

Yes, she made a few comments in the programme that she thought would be popular, only to look astounded when she didn't receive the raptuous applause expected.
I always watch Question Time and "celebrities" always think their dumb views will be popular, the "thinkers" show them up for what they are.

From what I've seen elsewhere, it's clear that McCall is none too bright.

Well, I think Davina McCall makes a good point! There...I've said it.

Obviously, it is not a true statement about everyone - but there are a significant number of people who resent anyone telling them what to do, even if it is in the best interest of the planet, and who will happily leap on the slightest suggestion of doubt about the science, and will completely disregard any real facts on the subject. We all know these people.

Of course it's the right bandwagon for them, they just want to be popular, popularity doesn't mix well with standing for counter arguments, imagine being slurred as a celebrity that doesn't recycle. Heinous crime.

By the way I do not suggest anything unless I am willing to do or all ready do as is.
the use of the computer to find solutions to Man made issues is not fun and I do it for a greater good.
