I can't reconcile the opening comment (am I misreading it?) with the site either. From that site,
What causes climate change?
The Earth’s climate has always changed, and its temperature has risen and fallen many times due to natural causes. Today, many scientists agree that the climate change we now see is partially human-induced, in other words the result of human activities in addition to natural causes.
Climate change is linked to the release of what are known as greenhouse gases. Almost all types of human activity release such gases. Greenhouse gases reduce the earth’s ability to cool itself, trapping heat between the ground and the atmosphere.
The most significant gas contributing to climate change (although not the only one) is carbon dioxide (or CO2). CO2 is released mostly when we burn organic materials – coal, gas, petrol or wood. In practice, this means that whenever we heat our houses or offices, drive a car, generate most kinds of electricity or take a flight we push CO2 into the atmosphere.
