Same old, same old:

Quote:
In a series of groundbreaking scientific papers starting in 2002, Veizer, Shaviv, Carslaw, and most recently Svensmark et al., have collectively demonstrated that as the output of the sun varies, and with it, our star's protective solar wind, varying amounts of galactic cosmic rays from deep space are able to enter our solar system and penetrate the Earth's atmosphere. These cosmic rays enhance cloud formation which, overall, has a cooling effect on the planet. When the sun's energy output is greater, not only does the Earth warm slightly due to direct solar heating, but the stronger solar wind generated during these "high sun" periods blocks many of the cosmic rays from entering our atmosphere. Cloud cover decreases and the Earth warms still more.
They have demonstrated no such thing. All they have is a possible cloud nucleating mechanism, demonstrated only in a laboratory experiment, and not shown to happen in nature. There are many missing links in this highly speculative theory.

And what they emphatically do not have, is any trend in TSI since at least 1980 or any trend in GCR since at least the 1950's, and hence they do not have an explanation for recent warming.

What I found intresting, is the coring samples. I wonder though if they can get an accurate reading of the top most layers as to see how they compare with the deeper layers. to see how they compare. I will have to trust the solar scientist on the cosmic rays though since I know very little of the intricate details. There is a little something I can add to the solar part though is we are seeing a weakening in our magnetic field around earth in certain locations this could be one of the thousands of links that makes climate work. I don't know for sure for I have never personally done studies on it just saying it is a possibility.
