Re: New Energy saving monitors!!!

surely someone so affluent to afford £350 just to see what electrical devices are using power in their home, isnt worried too much about electric bills LOL

I mean its pretty obvious usually, what the big consumers of power are

....I have a £25 Scottish Electric monitor in the cupboard on my main feed and can use that just fine to see whether im on £50 a month or whether when I put the new 60" telly on its consuming 200w or 300w .....

But they might be worried about their carbon footprint!

LOL

if they were truly worried they wouldnt be paying a company £350 to produce some labour and resource intensive LCD screen, silicon chips, plastic enclosures and moulds etc

Id like to see how much CO2 was emitted making the product, so then I would ask them to offset it elsewhere.......

Re: New Energy saving monitors!!!

then do some back of the envelope calculations and see...

The potential to save energy over a lifetime by educating someone on how to use energy more intelligently is certainly going to be more than energy cost of manufacture of one of these meters...People really have no idea how much energy they use - from boiling a kettle, TV, cookers etc. and these devices can help, although a £30 one will do the job!

Re: New Energy saving monitors!!!

yeah, I agree, just being a bit of a cynical bugger as usual

£30 meter I have, they should be free in built into all off the shelf installed meters - would wake people up a bit if theres a display telling them how much they are currently using, for sure

..but £350 for a system that communicates by powerplugs with multiple LCD displays ...seems a little OTT to me
