Cabin Heating...

right lads and lasses... I've got a 4m X 5m cabin at the bottom of the garden... last year it was stinging me to keep it heated on 2 oil filled radiators....

I need to keep it above 3 degrees really as they're a few electrical items in there...

any suggestions on a cheaper alternative to oil filled rads greatly received...

Re: Cabin Heating...

The environmentalist in me says don't heat it in the first place!!

However, that being said, I can't see that any other kind of heating would be more effective than what you've got, tbh. Electricity is the most efficient, and any other kind of heater would still use the same number of kWh.

Your best bet is probably to insulate the hut as much as possible, using the sort of pads you can get from B&Q or Wickes.

Re: Cabin Heating...

Build a large compost heat adjacent to it and run a simple heat exchange unit.

Re: Cabin Heating...

...if you've not got the option of gas heating then, apart from the compost idea (which is great by the way!) all you can do is insulate.

Whatever type of electrical heating (oil, convection etc.) you use it will still cost same...

Insulate - or don't heat at all...
