Harmony One problems

I've just started setting up my Harmony One but i'm having big problems
I created account/set up my devices and then set up my activities - no problem
When i finally came to 'updating the remote' all seemed to be going fine but on the next screen where it prompts you to disconnect usb and try the remote nothing works on the remote
All i get is a slideshow of Logitech images, if i press the activities button as recommended all that happens is the images cycle quicker.
At no point does any touch screen 'buttons'/icons appear
I've tried removing the battery and trying again
I've rang customer support and put the remote into 'safe mode' and restarted NO HELP
I'm awaiting an email from technical support but this could take 2 days
Any ideas chaps or do i have a duff one

Re: Harmony One problems

Have you tried touching the pictures? What happens then. What specifically are the pictures on the screen?

Re: Harmony One problems

As above really... What do you see? Are the activities on the screen correct? What happens when you touch the screen? Are you sure you've added the correct devices? It took me 3 attempts to add the right Sky HD box.

Re: Harmony One problems

The pictures on screen are the Logitech symbol and four pictures of the remote
I believe this is just the inbuilt screensaver
No activities show
Touching the screen causes a beep and the next picture to appear
I've followed the software prompts to the letter about four times and none of my activities have appeared on the remote

Re: Harmony One problems

When you spoke to Logitech did they get you to download the PC software? If not, I would do this now and reinstall. My first experience was not good either - turned out the software on the CD in the box was incompatible with the firmware on the remote!

Between pressing Update Remote and getting the message to disconnect and test did you get a scale probably starting at 3% then probably pausing briefly at 90% before completing at 100%?

Ah well, worth a try (although it is a 53mb download!). That fixed mine. (Well, that and the firmware download).

As you've done both of these, and your upload runs to 100% I can't think of anything else to suggest. Looks like it's duff, I'm afraid.

If you ever have the patience to go through it yet once more:
all the time when the remote is connected by USB does the screen display "USB connected"?
at the 90% stage does this briefly change and then return until 100% and you disconnect the USB?
does the slideshow appear immediately after this?
do words appear on the screen above one or both of the two virtual buttons that appear below the bottom of the screen (like the arrows at the sides)?

Tried and no success
Yes the screen does show usb connected as you described
After spending 30mins speaking to Logitech technical support in the USA they said i've probably got a duff one
Sending it back for another one, hopefully better luck next time

Re: Harmony One problems

Yes, I had two, you should be OK with your second one.

Re: Harmony One problems

Having just bought the harmony one it has become imeadiately infuriating. I own a mac mini and when i run the remote update software it asks me to connect the remote to the USB port. I do this, and click continue only to be asked the same question again...and again and again.

Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Harmony One problems

I'm assuming it's fully charged!

Sounds like a USB issue. Not that sure how Macs work but with Windows-based machines when you plug in a new USB device you get some reaction from the operating system, "new hardware found" or somesuch. Does this happen for you, when the remote update software is not running? If not, your machine doesn't seem to be reacting to the remote as a USB device. Is it OK with other USB devices?
