Wanted : Advice on which Harmony Remote to Buy

I am after an All for one and one for all remote.

The Logitech range seem the most suitable but I would really like your advice if possible on what model I should get.

The equipment I am planning on controlling are.

TV
Topfield
V+
XBOX360
Popcorn Hour
TVIX
AV Reciever
Component AV Switch

Lights
Ceiling Fan

If possible - Central Heating (RF control?)

Generally they are Line of sight, but I guess if I could hide the Kit in a cupboard. So RF would be a bonus.

Cheers

Re: Wanted : Advice on which Harmony Remote to Buy

You can compare the UK range here. Remember all the photos are of US models. The models ending in 5 are UK models and have the 4 coloured buttons.

The latest model is the ONE which is a worldwide model and does NOT have the coloured buttons. Arguments/Views rage on that ONE!

It appears that the ONE in all other respects seems to be the best laid out ergonomically etc. I have the 555 and its great other than keys size layout etc.

The good news is that basically the software is the same across the range. Models mainly vary by, with or without RF and screen variatiions etc.

Be prepared to alter your way of thinking when you buy a Harmony, think ACTIVITY (what you want to do) as opposed to DEVICE (what you want to do it to!)

Good Luck

Alan

Re: Wanted : Advice on which Harmony Remote to Buy

I recently bought a Harmony 895.
It controls my Sky HD, Pioneer tv, Sony amp and Sony DVD player with no problem, and was easy enough to set up (needed some tweaking).

It also supports Z-Wave, so will allow you to control lighting and other Z-Wave compatible devices.

Cheapest I found it at the time was on eBuyer for £120 (this includes the IR extender).

Cheers Mate - I got an 885 of Ebay for 80 quid.

I have had a play and after some hunting I believe I have all my kit set up.
Now it is time to try and set up the activities.

I am keen on the Lighting control, but I guess I am looking for an IR dimmer.
