I would like to buy a harmony 1000 but would like to know if there is any issues with controlling my kit.

panasonic px70 -50"
onkyo 875 amp
sky hd (important to have full control including coloured buttons)
panasonic pt ae2000e projector
ps3 (I understand i will need 3rd party kit)
projector lift with ir or rf
projector screen with either ir or rf

I would like the harmony 1000 if poss but suggestions are welcome.

Re: which remote again

The only real issues you will get with a universal remote is a failure to select an input on your TV as some can't select a particular input e.g. Toshiba Regza although some people have got it working. I'm not sure how your Panny does it but I'm pretty sure you have to press AV to bring up a menu and then use the arrow button to select the input. This can be problematic but I'm sure someone will have figured it out (they more or less have for the Toshibas), see the 1000 thread. Any learning remote will be able to perform what you want. I have yet to find a device I've needed in Logitech's database, although sometimes the kit is littered with unused buttons but it's just a case of deleting or amending them but TBH, the Harmonies will get you going straight from the off. The 1000 and 895 can work with the RF extender should you need to hide any kit away.

The 1000 doesn't have hard coloured buttons, again check the 1000 thread for how they look and operate using the touch screen. Neither does the One, which I think was a mistake by Logitech. I could probably live with it as I don't use the coloured buttons that much but will hold off until they bring it back on next remotes.

I went from a Pronto (two handed touch screen) to a Harmony and really prefer both the simplicity of the Harmony (particularly setting up), one handed operation and most importantly the hard buttons. I don't think I could go back to a bulky two handed, touch screen remote like the 1000. Each to their own I suppose.

The PS3 has been discussed to death and the only workarounds involve dongles although if you check remotecentral there is news of a guy developing a workaround using the existing PS3 BT remote and fitting some gizmo inside to translate to IR. I just wish Sony would bite the bullet and allow a 3rd party to add BT to their remote line up as how a PS3 is supposed to be the centre of your media setup if you have an extra (non-backlit) remote is anyone's guess. Then again, when did Sony ever listen to what we want?!!

No problem with my Panny TH42PX70 as it has Discrete Input available from the Harmony Database.

....that's handy to know. Do you know if the 2008 models will be the same? I might be moving to plasma later this year.
