Pronto SBC RU990 Advice needed
Hi Guys
I bought last august a Pronto RU990.
I have never used it, as I own a mac and the software is not
supported on the Mac OSX platform.
Will a few months on, I keep thinking that I should really put this to good
use and try and work it. I purchased Vista and loaded the software up...
Where do I start......Is there a website with already templates of this remote control. I am hoping that I can set it up for sky, and the channels on the tv (icons) can be et on the remote?
Or am I hoping for to much, any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Where do I start or do I get rid of it and settle for the remotes that
came with my gear.
Kevin

hi, good place for you to start is www.remotecentral.com it's a world of information, graphics, codes, manuals, etc.
its a superb site for remotes.
there's also loads of people on here who will give you a hand should you need anything.
have you installed the pronto software yet?

I still have my old 990 config on my laptop. You'd obviously have to modify it - but I do have sky, so it would be a good starting point. If you want it, PM me your email address.

Re: Pronto SBC RU990 Advice needed
Once you get into it you will wonder why you left it so long. They do take a bit of setting up, and you will find you "tinker" with the pages and buttons quite a lot before you settle on what is right for you. You won't ever want to see your old remotes on the sofa again!
Don't just load a PCF and leave it. Think of what you want to be able to do, plan it and if you can't do it or don't know how just ask. Pronto owners generally like to help others and take great pride in "doing the things no one thought possible with a remote" - I know I do.

Re: Pronto SBC RU990 Advice needed
Hi again
Yes, I have it installed on the computer. I have run the software but as yet not connected the remote to the computer via the usb lead.
I have a few items that I would like to use with it:-
Pioneer Plasma TV
Sky HD box
Sky + Box
Sony STR-DA1200ES
Playstation 3
Xbox 360
B & W Zeppelin Speaker
Sony LCD TV
Philips LCD TV
Sony PVR DVD
Lights
I have a Pioneer Plasma TV, when I first bought the remote control, it tried to teach the pronto the codes from the Pioneer TV, but what a job that was. I gave up in the end.
I really must have a play around with it. Just been sat in its cradle since I bought it.

Mine is a very good start then. I have a Pioneer TV, Sky HD, a Sony STR-DA5200ES and a USB dongle for controlling the PS3. So a lot of the stuff you need is probably already in there.

PS3 is Blutooth so IR remotes don't work. The dongle plugs into the USB port and accepts IR (but you can't power on / off). Comes with it's own remote and you can learn the codes. Do a search - there are threads on here about it.

Re: Pronto SBC RU990 Advice needed
Have you coded a ccf for the Sony STR-DA1200ES yet?
I just got this receiver so was looking for a ccf on remotecentral but no joy.
