Simple IR repeater

Hi,

Appologies if this has been asked/answered before, but I have done a fair bit of looking around and can't find quite what i'm after.

I have the Harmony 885 remote, with all my equipment in an open rack, and my plasma TV on the wall to the left of it. The problem I have is that when I use the remote, unless I can point it in exactly the right place (mid way between TV and rack), some of the signals get lost.

I'm trying to find a basic (small) IR reciever, which can sit on my hifi rack, with a cable that comes out with a (very small) transmitter which can be stuck directly on the IR reciever on the TV. I have seen a few, but the transmitters are either big and bulky, and therefore look stupid on the TV, or they don't block the IR reciever on the TV itself (meaning stray IR signals from the remote could also reach the TV and therefore it gets the signal twice). Also some of them say not for use near plasma TVs, which is no use to me :-)

Any suggestions would be appreciated. If there is one that has 2-3 IR transmitters 'wands' so it is future proofed, that would be excellent.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers

Darren

Re: Simple IR repeater

Is this any good?http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?...source=15&SD=Y

On second thoughts Maplin's "smart blaster" and "smart eye" combination might be better. This would apparently avoid the need for strap on Ir leds altogether aqnd costs about the same

Re: Simple IR repeater

Thanks Tobs

The one in the link may do it, but the smart blaster/eye are not really what I was after. It need something that does stick over the TVs IR reciever, as I need to ensure that it does not recieve the signal twice (once from the IR repeater, and once from the actual remote).

The first one you sent through looks like it would do the job, was just hoping there was something with smaller transmitters that stick on the TV.

Thanks again.
