MX-980, MX-810 or waiting HarmonyOne RF?

hey I just bought the harmony 890 RF and I don't like it. I don't know it's just the shape, the keys location and it stop charging for no reason. I'm going to return it. I'm now lookin toward MX-980 or MX-810. I need a remote that would be use with;
tv: sharp lc52d82u
receiver: yamaha htr 6060
cable box: hdpvr explorer 8300
hd-dvd: toshiba hd-a30
blu-ray player/gaming: ps3 80go with nyko bluwave IR remote
dvd-r upscaler: samsung r160
cd player: sony ce215
dvd player: toshiba sd-430v
home automation: 14 x10 modules with IR-543 controller
I want to set macros involving specific x10 modules in some activities. so MX-980, MX-810 or do I wait for the replacement model of harmony 890 RF ¨harmony two¨ or wathever they will call it. (RF version of the harmony one)
the only thing missing now is a decent remote that will replace my piece of crap one for all remote and nextgeneration ovni shape RF transmitter. (I'm not keeping the harmony 890 it's allready back in it's box)
anyone can help me ?

Re: MX-980, MX-810 or waiting HarmonyOne RF?

Personally, I would go with manually programmed remotes such as the MX-980 over wizard-based remotes (Harmony, MX-810) any day. I've tried programming the MX-810 and although it has all the features of the other URC remotes, I found it very difficult to get it to do what I wanted.

I can't imagine any of those devices would be any issue with the MX-980 - the database is pretty extensive plus you can always learn codes to it. Is there a reason why you're thinking about the 980 over the MX-900? The whole range is more or less the same (and work with URC's RF extenders), the only bonus the 980 has is variables (which you will rarely use) and pretty coloured buttons :P

I'm new to X10...I have seen the X-10 codesets in the IR database but I don't know the extent of universal remotes to control it...do you literally just have an IR to X10 converter and then learn the IR? Maybe I'm just naive.

I'm a happy Mx-950 user, but the 980 looks nice... anyone know where best to buy one in the UK?

Well the best place to get them would be BMB Electronics, the UK distributer...unfortunately they're trade only. They're pretty hard to get hold of over here as they're not really a retail product. We can get them if you're interested, give me an email (link in profile) and i'll have a look at prices for you.

The IR-543 is an IR blaster thet receive IR from the remote (in my case it would be the base station IR emitter) and convert it to RF for your X-10.

So with the MX-980 it would be something like that:
MX-980 RF > RFX-250 RF > MRF-350 IR > X-10 IR-543 RF > X-10 modules
Is that clear?
I just can't find the right way to explain it... (it would work, someone tried it for me on RC forum)
Thanks,
Gui.
