Harmony purchase, which one? 785 or 555

Needs to control 6 or 7 devices...no more.

Why would I go for the 785 over the 555?

Your advice is appreciated :-)

Thinking I may change the light socket to be IR controlled too. Would that make a difference between 785 and 555?

Re: Harmony purchase, which one? 785 or 555

I was faced with the same choice and bought a 785 a few days ago to replace the universal remote that came with my denon amp (haven't recieved it yet).

The screen has more colours, more buttons (so that more options can be displayed at any one time) - but the main thing for me was that i like the rechargable battery and the look of the thing. I don't think there's really that much more difference between the two - certainly the logitech website is useless for comparing the two. Apparantly the 785 also has a tilt sensor so you just need to pick it up and the lights come on, but the 555 you have to push a button.

What hi-fi gave the 555 5 stars, but docked the 785 a star as was so much more expensive (£200 when they reviewed it) than the 555 and didn't really do much more - but i got mine from dabs for £115 which i thought was ok. if it turns out to be rubbish i may reverse my view!

Re: Harmony purchase, which one? 785 or 555

I'm considering investing in a Harmony, but have no idea as to which model to buy. I don't want to buy a cheaper model to then find that it's missing something useful.

Does anyone have a step-by-step guide as to what's added with each respective model increase? I'm thinking 12 devices on the 525 is sufficient for almost everyone, and I don't necessary need rechargable or colour or touch screen.

However, I also have RF WISEcontrol dimable lighting, so not sure if any or all can control this. I presume that the 895 has some RF functionality, as it can accomodate an RF extender.
Thanks.
