LCD Remote?.

Hi.

Am looking for an LCD remote which i can control my AMP, Sky & Projector (if they can), I want it to look pretty good as its for my bedroom and my mates to see (sorry i know its sad!). I saw this >>http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...15220&T=Module in Maplin on offer for £20. Will this do teh job?

Or what can you recommend me, I dont want nothing to expensive.

Many thanks

Luke

Re: LCD Remote?.

Hi, whilst I have not seen the remote control you refer to above, I can only strongly recommend you don't purchase that one. You do get what you pay for.

Based upn your equipment (assume you don't need non line of sight control) I would suggest this one,

I'm sure a qucik search will show that it can be purchased for about £50.

All the best

Re: LCD Remote?.

Add a 0 to your budget and you'll get a good LCD remote.
LCD touchscreen remotes are rubbish anyway, look nice but in use major drawback. I'd get a hard buttoned remote with PC connectivity.

You're not going to get much for £20 anyway, look in Argos for general universal remotes. These are rubbish as the built-in database probably won't have your devices, and even if they do it won't have the buttons you need, where you need them.

Save up some cash, get a URC MX-500 (or similar) that's around £50.

Re: LCD Remote?.

I thought for £20 (normal price £50) it wouldnbt be to good. I did see a decent control in Currys which is this one http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/stor...ull&tabIndex=1

Also was this the Philips your link is showing? http://www.hardwarezone.com/img/data...ttons%20BG.JPG the PHILIPS SRU9600?.

Re: LCD Remote?.

Just saw the Philips Pronto which is coming in at £90 the cheapest i have found, Alittle to much for me. Am looking for something really that looks pretty flashy it doesnt really have to work all that well just do the basic stuff.

Re: LCD Remote?.

That MX-500 should do everything, although check Sky box as they use toggle bit IR codes. I'd rather have a £50 remote you actually use, rather than a £20 LCD touchreen that's a POS.

Re: LCD Remote?.

Would Maplin let you return it if it does not work your equipment. That way you can take one, try it out and see if it does the simple stuff you want. (the projector and SKY may be the sticking point though)

If it works for you then you will have the best remote £20 can buy, if it doesn't you get your money back and have £20 to put towards something pricier.

A £20 remote is not cr*p if it does everything YOU want it it to do. A £70 remote is cr*p if it does everything everyone wants it to do, but doesn't work your stuff.

Argos is a good place to buy and try from coz if it doesn't work they are very good at refunding your money.

Re: LCD Remote?.

Maplin always takes stuff back i have done it in the past. The remote is £20 but the normal price is £50 its just on offer till mid December. I might give it a go and see.
