Adding functions to a Marantz RC5400

I have the aforementioned remote control and it currently deals with an amplifier/receiver, VCR, DVD, TV and Sky box. However, we've just updated to a Sky+ box only to discover the commands are no longer recognised by the Marantz remote. Furthermore, the original programmer (the company who sold us the remote) has programmed the control using non-standard interfaces and so I am unable to access the learn mode - or at least I am unable to find it.

I need to change the functionality so the control recognises the Sky+ commands and also add in the extra functions such as recording, rewinding and pausing live TV. Without reprogramming the entire unit, what options are available to me?

I have the Wizz.it software but I am afraid of downloading a template only to have to reconfigure the entire remote again.

I would connect up to wizzit and open the program, upload your configuration from your remote and save it on your PC. Then start tinkering because that way if you mess things up you can download your current configuration back to the remote.

On the remotecentral.com site there are loads of PCF files with SKY+ codes so you could download one of those and copy the part you want and insert it into your PCF and adapt it.

But to start off you could relearn all the buttons from your SKY+ remote to replace the SKY buttons on the remote. (ie keep the same buttons but learn the new codes to them) On the bottom 1/4 inch of your remote touch screen, centered above the 4 way cursor and between the two top round hard buttons there should be a button/image that looks like an open book. Press that on the screen button and hold it for a few seconds and that should open the menu that has the learn function listed amongst other stuff. (if it is a non standard interface it might not be there) so you may have a problem.

But if you go the first route and upload your current config and save it, you could email it to me and I could take a look and add the SKY+ codes etc and email it back for you to put back on your remote.
