Harmony remote needs to warm up?

Hello all,

I am hoping someone can help me with this issue I am having. I am new to the forum and new to AV setup but appreciate all the help and advice I can get.

Here is a little history regarding my issue. I recently bought a new Sharp Aquos and I am using a Harmony remote model number 659 and all is working great.

Over the weekend, I wall mounted my TV and moved all my components to a closet. I bought a Buffalo Electronics Wall-Mount IR Sensor and a Xantech IR Emitter kit.

I plugged all of the devices to my LCD and ran all the cables in the attic and all is nice and clean. I am very proud of the work!

Now, here is what I am noticing and the reason I am posting.

I turn the tv on (its been off for hours) and for some reason, I am not able to control any of the components with the Harmony remote (except for the TV). After about 5-10 mins, not sure why that long, the remote starts to work.

Has anyone seen this before? If anything is unclear, please ask, I am really stuck.

Re: Harmony remote needs to warm up?

My 555 does not need any warm-up time.
Bear in mind when you select an activity the remote buttons will operate the device(s) appropriate to that activity. For example when I am in activity "watch Sky" the remote primarily controls the Sky box, but in "watch Terrestial" the same buttons control the TV.
I assume you have all your devices set up to your Harmony, and that you have tried selecting "devices" to see if you can control individual devices that way.

Re: Harmony remote needs to warm up?

Thank you Wing Rider for your response.

I did not have this problem until I started using an IR Sensor to repeat my remote control commands to the devices within the closet. All of my devices were setup and selecting an activity worked just fine.

I am in awe trying to figure this out. I can take the original remote from the receiver and use it as soon as the tv is turned on but the Harmony remote does not work.

Does anyone else have any ideas of what could be wrong? Some where I read someone mentioned they had an issue where it took their devices around 30 seconds to respond after turning on their TV and it had to do with the TV starting up and emitting some kind of waves that could be interfering with the remote but can not find that post for the life of me.

Any responses will be appreciated!
