Marantz remote for SR4200 amp???

Have recently moved house & finally got round to reconnecting my 5.1system. Remote (rc5200sr) that came with amp (marantz sr4200) now doesn't respond despite the red indicator LED still registering button pushes. Basically the button pushes don't register on the amp. This is real pain as can't configure my system. Main problem at moment is I'd switched centre speaker off before I packed up system before move & now want to turn it on again. Not to mention the sheer tedium of having to leave the sofa to change the volume!!! Have done search online for the rc5200sr & was shocked to find the number corresponds to a programmable marantz rc costing anywhere between £105 & £125!!! Don't want to have to spend that sort of cash. Does anyone have any ideas how I can repair/replace my existing remote without having to break the bank? Is there an alternative marantz remote that would do the job for less wonga? Any help/guidance much appreciated.

Re: Marantz remote for SR4200 amp???

Why not spend £40 on a Harmony 525 ?
I have one and It works fine with the Amp - I think I have the same model.
You can configure the buttons but you won't need to as you can change the speaker volume as standard.

Thanks for your inputs guys. Purchase of the all in 1 looks unavoidable. Thanks for the recommendation.

Re: Marantz remote for SR4200 amp???

Wee tip guys. When your other half tells you the batteries shes given you are new, don't believe a word she says & make sure to check them yourself first. DOH!!!! What a waste of time, nowt wrong with my remote. Also, another wee tip if you do suspect your remote is inoperative. Try some button pressing (with new batteries ) whilst viewing the IR emitter (bit at the front of the remote) through the camera on your mobile phone. This makes it possible to see whether it is emitting or not & may aid fault finding during a repair.
