Philips SRU8015/10
Has anyone here got one?
Looks like a nice bit of kit.

Although I have spent the best part of this afternoon trawling Tottenham Court Road to find that no-one has them in stock. Richer Sounds around the corner are getting a delivery on Tuesday though.

Re: Philips SRU8015/10
yes I own one of these and it is the best universal remote that I have ever bought! Set up is a doddle (although don't always settle for the first code that it finds for your equipment) it lets you test as you find a code, so that you can test that MOST of your buttons are working, you set up your individual devices first, and for TV, PVR etc, you can also set up your favourite channels if you want with their respective logo's, then you set up your activities , such as watch Freeview, play a game etc. It found all my stuff Tosh tv, Humax PVR (which has in the past usually been the bane of my other UR!) including all its features i.e PIP/PAP etc which are utilised by using the MORE button, my Xbox360,my Sony Home Theatre System (although I did have to learn it some buttons for this, but this is easy to do) the only thing it coulnd't find a code for funnily enough was the PS3! But I can learn it all the buttons for this.
I heartily recommend this remote, compared to setting up the Harmony its a doddle! Looks good as well!

Re: Philips SRU8015/10
Superb, glad to hear someone has one before I hand over my hard earned dosh!
How does the tv guide on the LCD screen work? Is it more gimmick than function?

You can set up your favourite channels if you want to for any piece of equipment that has its own tuner, so in my case, it is set up on the TV (Freeview) and the Humax PVR. Most channels are there and have their own icon. You then press the favourites button when in TV mode or PVR mode, and then scroll to a channel on the screen and then press the tick button.
It is a bit of a gimmick but is useful if you don't happen to know a channels number or can't be bothered to go into the guide to select a particular channel. Setting each one up is very easy, as the remote asks you to input the number of the channel that is used, and then it tests it. If it turns to the right channel it then saves it, but if there is some problem (for example in inputting the numbers is too quick and doesn't register, the remote actually tries again automatically changing the speed of the numbers! So it will keep trying this out until your piece of equipment actually changes to that channel.
This is of course useful for three digit channels i.e for on Sky or cable.
So it is quicker than scrolling through the epg, but not if you are a whizz at knowing every channel number! One plus is that you can on the remotes screen actually put the channels in whatever order you see fit, so for example you could have all the BBC channels lined up together, then all the ITV channels, and so on, the order that you actually program these favourite channels is entirely up to you.

As Asigurds asked....if you don't have the original remote then I presume you're stuck?

Re: Philips SRU8015/10
I'm not sure this remote will work with the PS3 - Is the PS3 not a bluetooth remote? I know that you can work round it with an IR dongle so you may be able to use the IR coded for the PS2.

Re: Philips SRU8015/10
I am considering this remote over a Harmony 785/885, but I have a couple of questions. Do the activities correctly choose the correct input of the TV and is there an activity that can switch everything off with one button?
Also, does it eat up batteries?
Many thanks

Re: Philips SRU8015/10
Hi... new to this forum. Pulled this thread up from a search on the 8015 remote. I had a couple questions about the unit:
- Are the four teletext buttons at the top user-assignable?
- What does the AV button do?
- Are device functions automatically displayed on the LCD screen when an activity is selected, or do you need to manually hit the "More" button? Can the "More" button be included at the end of a macro?
- Can buttons from different devices be combined in a single activity?
Thanks...

Re: Philips SRU8015/10
I had this remote 3 Days ago. I have Pioneer 436xde,Denon DVD 1930,Denon 1907 Amp and Sky HD. It works a treat on all the devices.
It could not find the code for Pioneer 545HX HDD/recorder .But it copied off the original remote no problem at all.
The best remote I have had .

Are you able to answer any of the above questions (posts 9-10-11)?
Thanks!

Re: Philips SRU8015/10
Post 9 :- Can`t say about batteries, remote only 3days old. Acvtivity can be set to what you want in your sequence ie.:- turn on TV,Surround system,DVD,Select right input for TV and then press play to start the DVD. Then same for off.
Post 10:-They are not just telext buttons on top but are used in the same way to which original remote you use ie:- Sky,Freeview etc as well of course Teletext. AV button is the same usage as your remote.
More Button show all kind of activity and you decide which ones you want during setup.
Post 11:- I have already answered this in my previous post --Yes.
Lets put it simpler== Whatever your orignal remote does this will do.
It really surprised me how easy it was to set up. Not quick maybe, because you may have a lot of remotes.
