Re: HArmony 895/1000 skipping issues

Hi,

I have mine in a cupboard and it does get quite warm. Surprisingly, considering my Kit and an HTPC, most of the heat is generated by the SkyHD box

However I don't believe this is heat related, as I have mine mounted on the back of the front door to the cupboard. Sometimes when I am fiddling / updating / swearing at the Harmony, this door remains open so the RF unit doesn't get warm. Also this issue occurs from startup (I switch all my kit off at night).

I have to say if this issue is heat related it is just more bad design on logitechs part, I mean these things are supposed to go in cupbaords right?

Adam

Re: HArmony 895/1000 skipping issues

I thought I would add that I have not always had this issue, just the last few months. Has there been a software or firmware update recently i.e. in last 6 months?

Re: HArmony 895/1000 skipping issues

I have found it to be heat related in my case, and others after about an hour mne starts skipping open doors and then it starts working properly again

Re: HArmony 895/1000 skipping issues

I have mine in a closed cupboard, and again it does get quite warm. Rarely, as in hardly ever do I experience this skipping - from memory, I can think of perhaps two times in the last year. It's never been a big enough issue to cause me to investigate further.

Re: HArmony 895/1000 skipping issues

Do you have a lot of kit in the same cupboard? The only other kit in the same cupboard as the receiver is my DVD player (used rarely, so usually off), and my Sky+ box, which again I don't use too often, as my main box is the Sky HD one, in a neighbouring cupboard.

Have you tried placing the receiver in a cupboard/draw/somewhere else, all on it's own, where it isn't near any other kit that could help to heat it up. And then use the wands to send the IR signals, rather than flooding the cupboard with IR?

That is a very good suggestion, I will go and try it... I wonder if it is something to do with reflected signals rather than heat?

Anyone know off-hand where the SkyHD IR sensor is (if it isn't immediately obvious).

Re: HArmony 895/1000 skipping issues

If you look closely at the front of the box, in good light - perhaps shine a torch at it. You will see to the left of the lights, a slightly transparant point, that's where you need to stick the IR wand.

Yes I will set it up shortly and report back, seems so obvious now... still I won't get my hopes up just yet

Re: HArmony 895/1000 skipping issues

Well I am not going to get excited just yet but it seems to be working ok, thanks for the suggestion chaps . I'll keep an eye on it.

The only issue I still have is the lag. When I click rapidly on the remote it always takes a few seconds to catch up, inter-key delay is already set to zero. Any suggestions?
