One for All Xsight Touch / Nevo C3 / Acoustic Research ARRX18G Owners Thread

I can't find an Owners Thread for these devices made by Universal Electronics and badged;
a) One For All - UK and Europe
b) Acoustic Research (AR) - U.S
c) Nevo - Installer market

All essentially the same item utilising EZ-RC software and a rival to the Logitech Harmony One.
Thought it worth starting a discussion thread to share views, opinions and issues.

Just about to invest in a universal control have you purchased this control? It's at the top of my list it was going to be a harmony one but you can only have 5 commands per macro crazy also there is no red blue green yellow hard buttons so xsight is at the top at the moment

The Harmony sequences are not intended to be equivalent to what are called "macros" on other remotes.
Selecting of Activities automatically sends any number of commands and that's the actual equivalent to them.
The colour commands are on large clear icons on the screen.
That's usually considered an advantage but they can also be placed on spare hard buttons.

Hi,
I bought one and very pleased. It came down to price, I paid £54.99 at WAE+ and mine arrived fine but read the feedback on their site first, as it's not pretty!
I looked at AVSFORUMS and they are really popular under the AR banner and have a good thread going.
I found the Customer Support at One For All very good as well.
I have not set macros yet but have set multiple devices up, used the Harmony One channel logos, for channel short cuts, infact you can use any JPEG image, so my daughters button is a picture of her.
I would not say they are better than the Harmony, just One For All's equivalent and it all comes down to personal decision but at the price I paid..........
Hope this helps,
Andy

Hi,
That's what I think as well and I reckon they would have sold loads more if it wasn't for marketing under the One for All badge.
Still, it has kept the price down.
Have you tried going to the Logitech Harmony logo site for screen logos, very good for Favourites?
Andy

I just found this remote - I've no idea how I had managed to miss it for several years!!! I'd been looking for a replacement for my aging Marantz universal remote, but everything I looked at seemed to focused on "activities", whereas I prefer to know what device I'm using, and map an odd key for other things here and there. I guess I just ignored the One-for-All label, assuming it wouldn't be powerful enough to run macros/etc.

However it seems an excellent bit of kit, and is doing everything I want of it. I thought I'd need the RF extender (due to some odd equipment angles) but it's coping just fine with all my kit at the moment. I'd have preferred a non web-based setup system (wizards which do one step at a time and you need to press Next for each new setting annoy me; just put it all on one screen!) but it seems to work well enough, and let's face it you don't use that part very often once you've got it set up.

I can't seem to figure out how to put Macros into Activites yet though. Not a biggie (I can re-enter them) but it'd be easier.

As you prefer not to have activities why did you get a remote that has them?

I said "focussed on", not that I didn't want the option at all. I generally prefer to run my remote for one device at a time, rather having one "activity" mode at a time - but I still like the idea of an "all off" function for example, or to create basic actions which set up power/input settings for different scenarios on my Amp with one button press, or maybe in future set lighting moods.

I guess it's the same reason I went with Android (Galaxy S3 currently) rather than Apple for my smartphone; I prefer to have a bit more control over setting up my technology to work the way I want it to, rather than the mindset of being guided by the manufacturer as to how I should do things.

With the single exception of not being able to embed macros inside other macros (or inside Activities) this seems a very, very nice device though, and I have so far been able to set it up to work just the way I want it to.

Great Analogy
Had been looking at these a few years ago when they first came out.
But decided to stick with Harmony instead (3 in total in all major rooms) which i have now got used to how to get the most from them.
(Have always been an original Pronto user and Nevo SL and like you much prefer non web based programming/Tweaking.)
But the Harmony are more GF friendly.
Still have an original Pronto i keep incase i need to find an obscure code for something.
Might have to look at the Xsight again especially as Logitech IMO have lost the way in innovation and design recently in their Harmony range.
