-- media button - why did logi. remove it ?

the earlier remotes had a superb MEDIA button

for anyone with a CD / HD jukebox type player, you could add a database of cd title/artist and the remote would display the artists by A-Z on the screen, and then you can get your jukebox to play what you want in just one key press....

excellent.

but the media button was dropped some time ago,

why have Logi. done this ?

it was one of the reasons I needed a harmony in the 1st place, and I still have a 676 for use soley for the media button.

At a guess they found the models with it didn't sell as well as the others, and that those who had it didn't use it much.
However, the 1000 and 1100 actually improve on the principle by having a separate screen page for each set of functions, not only audio and video.

a thread about this was ongoing at the logitech harmony forum some time ago. i received response from one of my harmony contacts that the feature was dropped as the software was streamlined as the feature was not used by many remote owners.
not a great reason, and a step backward in my opinion. i can't think of another device company that drops existing features in future iterations rather than building upon them. i only hope they move forward with a remote that allows a like 'media feature' usable with network media devices (perhaps even with cover art on the remote).

yes, but logitech are getting a little too greedy if they only want to have that feature on £ 250 remotes

its not as if £ 100 for a remote is small change,

defo a step in the wrong direction,

what i meant was that i hope they continue to add new features without removing others.
agree that they added other very useful features in the new remotes. but i wouldn't say they built upon the features of previous models, otherwise all those features would still be present in addition to new added functionality.
i'm disappointed that they dropped the cd changer 'media' button, and i know others are disappointed in the lack of sequences in the 1100 and 900.
