help with Harmony one and mac mini

Hi there, hope someone can help with this.

I'm using a harmony one through a mac mini and Onkyo 606 as a media center with XBMC. I have 2 problems I can't solve.

The remote isn't using the amp for volume it's being adjusted in XBMC. Adding a mac mini as a device doesn't let you control volume from the amp, it acts like an Apple remote (which I've lost . I read a post that suggested going into customize buttons and changing the volume up and down to the amp. Doesn't work for me help! If the remote looses connection with the mac then it adjusts volume through the amp but of course looses control of XBMC.

next and possibly connected....

I have to unpair my harmony remote every time I switch the media center back on ie it looses connection. When I go to my mac securities tab to unpair the remote I only have a pair option to chose, not unpair. I have been unpairing the remote through the devices menu which works, I just have to do it every single time- bit of a nussance.

Any help would be very gratefully recieved- I'm totally stumped!!

Thanks!!

Re: help with Harmony one and mac mini

Hi. If the volume buttons in the Activity are assigned to control the amplifier, then that's what they should do! If they don't it's something in the amplifier that's not working the way you want it.
As this "unpairing" can be done from the Harmony's Devices area then it can be done the same way within the Activities. It could be done manually by making the series of commands into a Sequence, or automatically by including them as Additional When Activity Starts.

Re: help with Harmony one and mac mini

Thanks for the reply

Yes- I've attempted to do this with an additional- I pause the remote until the mac mini and xbmc have powered up then I have it set to issue an unpair command- seems totally logical but it hasn't worked and the remote is definitely pausing for long enough. Annoying!

Thing is if I go to devices on the actual remote and hit unpair it just works as usual- so don't really see what the difference is

Re: help with Harmony one and mac mini

So, there's a single "unpair" command and you've included that as Additional When Activity Starts?
What about that "pause" - is that another Additional Command, an "infra red delay" as it's called there, and if so have you tried different values for it?

Re: help with Harmony one and mac mini

yes, I've tried a lot of different delay times, I just kept adding an additional 10 seconds until it paused long enough to let XBMC start- then send the unpair. It's almost like that's what you're meant to do it just isn't doing it for some reason.

There must be lots of people using mac minis with Harmonies out there so I'm surprised this hasn't happened more people. Right about now I wish I hadn't lost my Apple remote but then I'd prefer to use the Harmony for everything.

Re: help with Harmony one and mac mini

If it's only one command, and you have that in the devices area and it works there, then why not just Customise it into the Activity and send it manually from there?
It ought to work automatically as an Additional Command though!
