Amp remote turns TV on!

Hi guys,
I hope i am posting in the right area, anyway, here is my problem.
I have an LG42PC56 Plasma TV and an ageing Kenwood Home Cinema amplifier/receiver KRV7040.
When i use the amp remote to turn the volume up on the amp, the TV comes out of standby, also, the power button on the amp remote will bring the TV out of standby - is there a fix for this kind of thing, other than buying a new amp, i love my old Kenwood amp, its 18 years old!
I do have an IPAQ RX3715 with Nevo remote control built into it, but even with different codes, the problem still persists.
Any ideas welcomed
Regards
