should i buy the Logitech Harmony 1000 Remote Control

Ive heard mixed reviews about the remote and found one for around $180. It is refurbished though. What do you guys think? I don't want to spend anymore than that on a remote. have there been any significant firmware updates to make it freeze less?

I am not sure if anyone can give you a sure answer on this. I have had a 1000 for quite some time now and it has not frozen once. The only complaint that I would have is that the IR range is not as wide as I would like - I have to point it more accurately at each device than I did with my old 785.

On the other hand, there are plenty of people on here who have changed from a 1000 to an 1100 and have been pleased with the improvement.

Mine never froze but used to randomly try and turn the projector off when changing between "projector activities". It also sometimes turn my amp up to MAX when just pressing volume up just once.

However, I would be surprised ifthere was a remote that was easier to set up. I had mine delivered to work. I plugged it in, told it what stuff I had and when I got home it did 95% of the stuff I needed straight away. Even my Receiver which was fairly new on the market worked perfectly and it knew about all the buttons on the original remote plus some features that where not on the original.

At $180 you'd struggle to get a beter remote I think. Just make sure you get a warranty.

There's a one year manufacturer's warranty in the US, and two years in the UK, but customers have statutory rights over warranties anyway.
