Harmony One - Keeping things off when starting an activity

Basically I have 2 remotes, one for my cable box and the Harmony for everything else. I dont use the Harmony for the cable box because of the annoying delay that doesn't exist on the original remote.

I have all the functions of everything else in an activity on my Harmony, it works great except for on problem...everything turns on when activating the activity (as it should). How can I disable this?

I cant seem to find anything when trolling the Harmony One app. I read on here earlier that, I can disable the on/off IR command, but I'm not really sure how to do that.

Any help would be great.

Hi.
You have several options for this - set the Devices to be "always on", set their power-on commands to be "none", are the first two to try.
But why do you want to do it - and why haven't you got that delay problem fixed?

I wasn't aware there was a way to fix the delay problem. it takes about twice as long for my uverse box to react to a command from the Harmony One than from my original remote.

The first step would be to run the Troubleshoot.

Easily fixed, the my device reacts too slowly option is the first one and if that doesn't work try altering the "inter-device" delay too.

Yes, those would be the adjustments to make.
Did you find the options for the main part of your original post?

Re: Harmony One - Keeping things off when starting an activity

Reading between the lines here:

I take it from your post you are in the states? just a guess but I do remember reading that some US cable PVRs actually have both IR and RF. The standard remote uses RF which is why its so reactive whereas universal remotes will work but use the IR. If this is the case you may find the delays when using IR are your cable box and not solvable on the Harmony. I might be wrong though.

The other thing is are you wanting to stop the Harmony controlling power because your Cable remote also does power and its getting the Harmony out of Sync (I can't think of any other reason why you'd want to do this) For example with UK sky boxs you can set the remote up to also control your TV (just basic power and volume mainly) so the Sky remote will turn on the TV and then the Harmony also does this in its activities and turns it off again. If its this thats causing your problems you might be better removing your TV remote from the cable remote and using the Harmony for switching.

While members on here are familiar with the Harmony and very knowledgable its unlikely we'll know anything about he Uverse cable box. With that in mind it might be worth asking on the Harmony forums at remote central. This site is US based so you are more likely to get users familiar with the remote AND the cable box
