Question Help with Samsung HL-S6187W Picture Problem

I'm having some real problems with the picture and I can't seem to figure out what's causing it. I've had this TV for about a year and a half now, and I started noticing these problems a few months ago. I don't know much about these things, and I first thought it was just the channels that were the problem, but I recently noticed the same problems with DVDs and even XBox 360. So, that leaves me looking at the TV as the problem.

I don't know exactly how to describe the problems, but I'm attaching some pictures that will hopefully help. It seems to happen most in areas of relatively uniform color, such as the sky or grass. The first picture shows this well. It looks almost like an elevation map sometimes.

Another issue is with faces. They often look patchy, like they were done as a paint-by-numbers picture. I didn't get a very good example of this yet, pic 2 is the best I've done so far, but if it will help, I could get a better shot of it.

The last issue is the overall grainyness of the picture and strange artifacts that appear from time to time. It happens very regularly, and you can see it pretty well in pics 2-4.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I currently have DirecTV, with the box set to 1080i and using component input. The DVD and XBox are both on HDMI inputs.
