Angry Digihome DG250DTRA08 - remote problem

Newbie poster.

I've seen quite a few snarky comments about this box on other threads, but having bought one about a week ago (£80 in Tesco) it has been really good , by which I mean that it is a genuine twin-tuner.

I have recorded two channels simultaneously, and so far I find the menus and interface pretty user-friendly.

Recordings are rock-solid, and I've had no problems with timers. The 250Gb hard disk gives you approx. 180 hours of recording, which was my main reason for buying, providing you ignore the complete futility of TopUp TV.

So why am I unhappy?

It's because the remote control is driving me mad!!!

Somrtimes it will work, and sometimes it won't. I've used other threads here to check the obvious (batteries etc.), including using a digital camera to check that the remote is sending IR transmissions (it is!).

It's just maddening. Sometimes it will power on the unit, sometimes not. Sometimes it will work straight away once the unit is manually powered on, but then will stop after a few seconds.

It's almost like there's some kind of timer delay going on, after which it will work OK.

Has anyone else had this problem? Should I just return the unit for exchange?

Please help!!!

Re: Digihome DG250DTRA08 - remote problem

I have the same unit bought 4 weeks ago - the remote works fine with everything as long as I first push the button marked DTR then all the recording facilitys work fine. if I want to alter the television I must first push the button marked TV.
I set up the TV to work with the same remote by entering the correct code for my make of TV. so I can turn both sets on and off with the same remote.

Re: Digihome DG250DTRA08 - remote problem

Can anyone help me? I have just bought one of these Digihome DG250DTRA08 & the remote control sheet with the TV codes is missing. All I need to know is the 4 digit codes for Toshiba. I would take it back but there are no more in stock. Thanks
