| Re: Series Link for £130?
I had the same question as you and after much online research, I ended up by opting for a 'Grade A' refurbed Humax 9200T (160GB). I wanted a PVR with RF modulator that was quiet (silent) when in standby - unlike the Thomson TUTV PVR which I had just returned to Tesco for a refund.
Humax's own online store has a 9150T 160GB for a shade over £100 (with delivery) and a 9200T (320GB) for approx £130 - both are within your budget.
With the latest software both support Freeview+ G2 which includes series link.
Apart from a few minor irritations with remote control button positions and the operating system it has generally worked very well. It records 2 channels simultaneously and will let you watch a third (provided its on the same mux as either channel being recorded, or any mux if they are one one mux). You can also watch a recording as well as record two channels.
However, we have noticed that some scheduled series recordings seem to get 'forgotten' .... not sure how/why so far.... we just check the scheduled programmes areproperly marked in the guide every now and then and add back the odd one that has gone astray. It has also recorded the trailer for a programme lasting 2 mins and not the programme at all!!! This was a broadcaster error (grrrrrr) - luckily we found out in time to grab a repeat, which worked out OK! {ALL Freeview+ pvrs would have suffered the same fate, I guess}
The device has a limit of 25 series linked or split programme recordings in the schedule list - which we've hit!! Annoying rather than anything else, as you can still schedule it to record a single instance of the programme and repeat the exercise the following week.
I got my refurbed model from a branch of Hughes for £99.90 saving a few coppers on the delivery as Humax own store had no stock at the time I looked. Otherwise I'd have gone for the 320GB version. 160GB suits us fine - we've usually got at least 40% free space - we do watch and wipe though!
