Question Humax 9300T rebooting problems

We bought a Humax 9300T PVR a few months ago, but in the last couple of days whenever we switch it on, it finds a channel successfully, but after a few seconds (or sometimes a bit longer) it seems to reboot itself, and then just continues with this cycle of finding channel, rebooting after a few seconds, etc, etc. It is consistent, not intermittent. We've tried unplugging, plugging into a different socket, etc, etc. Really hoping to avoid returning it to Currys, so if anyone has any ideas, they'd be most gratefully received!

Re: Humax 9300T rebooting problems

This can randomly affect the PVR9150, 9200 and 9300.
Rogue data in the broadcast causes the PVR to crash (the 9200 freezes, the 9150 and 9300 reboot).
Quote:
The oft-posted fix is to power of the PVR then remove the aerial from the antenna-in socket, before powering back on. This time there'll be no data received to cause a crash, and you should have control to do the defaults setting.
Once that's done, power off, reconnect aerial, power on and do another defaults setting - which will retune the channels.

Re: Humax 9300T rebooting problems

Thanks so much for this advice - we tried it and it's now working without any problems. Very grateful not to have to go and deal with Currys!

Thanks again!

Didn't work for me

The suggested fix didn't work for me, any other potential solutions?

There is another repeat of the Humax software update to UPTTF 1.00.19 being broadcast for the 9300T from Wed 3rd to Fri 5th March that I understand fixes the reboot problem.

However, I'd think this does need a machine to be working to receive it.

Can Jelboy37 detail his machine model no, exactly what happens, and what steps have been taken to try to fix it so far? ('Power off' means the mains switch on the back panel).

Rodders53, thanks for your reply.

The model is a 9300T.

So far, I powered off the device, removed the aerial cable, switched the device back on and from the menu settings and ran the default settings - no channels were found, as I expected.

I then switched the device back off, reconnected the aerial cable, switched the device back on and ran the default settings again - this time it picked up the various channels, and seemed fine for about ten minutes and then the reboots started again, they weren't so frequent as before but were still occurring every five minutes or so!

I can leave the machine on and just use the TV for terrestial channels only - would this still pick up the software refresh due next week?

Many thanks again for all your help.

Jel

It might be ok - I just don't know.

Once the OTA update is tranmsitting, I'd recommend you go through the default settings process once again then immediately do a manual check for updates via the menu. This should download it and apply it while you watch.

Check your current version in the meantime, as you might already heve the latest?.

You can also update via a computer and serial (null modem) cable by downloading the files from Humax.

Fixed!

Hi Rodders53,

I left the machine on and it appears to have resolved the problem - it was playing up terribly on 2nd March, then since yesterday it has been absolutely fine.

Thanks so much for your help. I could easily have binned the thing.
