Hitachi hdr 161 problems

Hello. Ive had an hitachi hdr161 for just over a year now and recently when i record on another channel and at the same time try to watch channel 5,5 US or fiver it jumps and skips, all the other channels are ok. As soon as i stop recording it stops. It also does the same if i record on 5, 5US of fiver.Any ideas?
Plus i have an on going problem with nearly any electrical item which gets turned on and off especially the shower which when running nearly all the channels are getting interference and are unwatchable. I have a full size aerial but its in the loft. Is there anyway to prevent this? Don't really want to put it on the roof! Cheers.

The symptoms you get are indicative of a low signal strength. As this is a recent occurrence I would check for any disturbance to the aerial or its cabling to PVR particularly if you know you normally have a strong signal. If your signal is normally marginal then you need to look at improving it, maybe using a booster.
