Alternatively, any suggestions for other units are more than welcome.
It needs to be as easy as you can get to operate as she's a bit of a technophobe however, now that I've got her using the Tevion I don't want her to get frustrated with it's shortcomings or this will put her off PVR's for life. |
If your Mum can live with the quirks of the Tevion then she should be happy with the Alba ALDTR160 160GB Digital TV Recorder at Argos
here. The Alba uses the same Cabot "middleware" as the Tevion but is has a much better implemented Grid type EPG (Guide) and other user facilities. It also has full Freeview+ functionality which the Tevion's lack. One thing the Tevions have which the Alba and most other PVRs don't have is the optional List View EPG. If she uses this and strongly prefers it you may have to consider this. The Alba has it's quirks but is way ahead of the Tevion's in terms of relibility.
Before considering the 'Luxor TU-TV2500 read some of the threads in the Top Up TV forum
here. Like the Alba the Luxor is made by Vestel but unlike most Vestel PVRs uses the TUTV software which is completely different to the other Vestel PVRs.
