HUMAX PVR 9150T - standby overnight?
My friend has recently purchased a Humax 9150T but is unhappy about the delay in the EPG populating when wanting to set up a recording. I understand that this is a bit of a quirk with this model. In fact on some occasions it does not seem to happen at all.
However he does not leave it in standby overnight (reasons of cost). Can this be the reason for EPG problems?. In addition on a couple of recording links it only recorded the first 2mins of a 1hr programme.
Would it be better to leave it in standby to alleviate these problems?
Thanks

Re: HUMAX PVR 9150T - standby overnight?
Your friend is probably succumbing to the eco green madness that is sweeping the world. keeping a box like that, on standby will cost less than 2p each night. If he cant afford that, then such a box is too much of a luxury. yes he must leave it on standby overnite, so that the epg gets populated.

you are ment to leave in stand by all the time when not using it, it cant record if it isn ot in standy or on, if you switch all power off to it, it will not record any thing, yes it has a slow epg, , but in the manual it says leave it on bbc1 and the epg sould take a minute or two

Re: HUMAX PVR 9150T - standby overnight?
The PVR9150 has a default Low Power Standby which consumes negligible power, and will still allow it to wake for recordings and firmware OADs.
When in standby, the EPG is "forgotten" and it takes typically one full cycle of the EPG broadcast (about 8-10 mins on a Mux1 channel eg. BBCONE) when coming out of standby for the EPG to load, note this is now up to date (if it were remembered on entering standby, it would be out of date at switch-on). PVRs, like VCRs, are intended to be left powered continuously.
There is an issue - possibly broadcast data, where some PVRs (9150, 9200, reportedly some other makes) have commenced recording for a couple of minutes, then stopped at the point the programme actually starts. It does happen, is not good, and the reason for it needs identifying and resolving. I've experienced it, and my PVR9200 is mostly left fully on, so it's nothing to do with powering it off.

Re: HUMAX PVR 9150T - standby overnight?
Another good reason to leave it on standby is for the updates, there is one coming on Thursday which solves the fan problem.

Re: HUMAX PVR 9150T - standby overnight?
I was wondering if you could help. My Humax PVR 9150T has been fantastic, but recently I have been having problems with it's recordings. It keeps neglecting to record timed programmes (and does not display an error message - either just keeps them at the top of the schedule even though the date has passed, or just wipes them altogether), records only part of a programme - sometimes skipping bits in the middle, or only recording the last ten minutes of a 2 hour film, or records the wrong programme completely.
The time is set properly, I do leave it on standby and there do not appear to be any problems with reception when I am watching from the PVR, and this has only started happening recently. Can you suggest anything?
Thank you,
Jenna Mills

You can try a factory reset otherwise its a case of taking it back.

Hello Jenna
There has been a multiple migration of channels on Freeview recently which could well account for this sort of issue...So the first thing you should do is a double rescan.
Firstly-- Unplug the aerial from the box then invoke a scan.
The purpose of this is to clear out all existing channels.
It is the only certain way of achieving that.
Once done , re- plug the aerial and rescan again. Hopefully that will sort matters out.
Note that you will have to re-programme any timers that you previously may have had programmed after this process.
