Humax 9200/9300 differences?

Anyone know a site where I can compare the differences between these models.

I'm (finally after many months of intending to do it) passing on my trusted Humax 8000T to my old man (to introduce him to the wonderfull world of PVR's) and am undecided whether to go for a Humax 9200TB (160/320G) (from Humax Direct/factory refurb) or get a newer 9300 (or 9150).

Apart from the cosmetic differences, i'm struggling to find a site where I can compare the important things (features/performance).

Price is not much of an issue (it's going to cost £100-£170). Just a question of what the newer models add and if any of the new stuff is relevant to me.

I understand the 9300 has HDMI but if this causes issues with tv aspect ratios/switching, i'd rather settle with scart (RGB).

Cheers

Hi

On the 9300 they have disabled the USB port but provided HDMI (as you've mentioned). It's also slimmer in size.

Er... can't think of anything else!

Re: Humax 9200/9300 differences?

Thanks Hippo

Loos like no difference between the 9200/9300 apart from the cosmetic differences and the USB/HDMI.

Grade A 9200TBX with 160GB HD for £100 looks fave at the moment

9150/9300 does look a lot better in the flesh though and appears to be quite a lot thinner which may be of benefit. I'll have to see how much height I have available.

The 9150/9300's don't have the RF Modulator that the 9200 does have.

If you have an older TV without SCART, then you need an RF modulator.

An RF Modulated output is also very useful for feeding an output signal to other rooms in the house using normal aerial co-ax. A disadvantage is that audio will be in mono rather than stereo.

Re: Humax 9200/9300 differences?

Hi

From what you guys are saying the 9300 is a step down from the 9200 not a replacement!

It seems to me the 9300 only offers HDMI, and to get that bits have been stripped away like USB and RF output.

True but the 9300 does have a more powerfull cpu so should be more future proof. The 9200 struggles a bit with Freeview plus for instance the remote control can be very unresponsive probably due to the processor working it's nuts off. Don't get me wrong I would not upgrade my 9200 to the 9300 simply because of the lack of usb archiving.

Re: Humax 9200/9300 differences?

There are big differences in performance in my view. The 9300 has a superior picture - an upscaler perhaps? It looks better, the HDMI connection is superb. Irritating that tyhe USB is just for show. Sold my 9200T on Amazon Marketplace for £115 and bought this for £165 at CCL. For the £50 I have a 2 years newer, better looking machine with a 320Gb HD! Fantastic! And it uses less juice.

Re: Humax 9200/9300 differences?

I have a 9200T and I have just bought someone a 9300T as a Christmas present. As it was Which? recommended like its predecessor, I thought it would be a natural upgrade on the 9300T. But I am very disappointed that the USB port is missing. Is there anyway to get the recordings off it without taking the box apart?

Sorry to be thick but what is the USB port on the 9200 for? As the 9300 has HDMI does this mean it has upscaling?

Re: Humax 9200/9300 differences?

The USB port can be used for many things and is very useful as others who own a 9200 can tell you. I don't use USB except for firmware updates (not happy with OTA updates).

The 9300 has HDMI upscale to max of 720p, but at least it's HDMI.

Leeds PC WOrld had 3 9200's for 89.97 each on their clearance section. Sure others will as the ".97" price is clearance options. Its no longer on their website though.
