the udate was to make the noise of the fan to go silent. because the fan was on full wack on the first firmware. 'no slow epg' so when you turn on your 9300 you can access the next 8 day guide? you must be the only one, i have to wait a good 3to 4 mins to even get to see the whole guide

Thanks Wingnut,i've never timed it but i put it on BBC1 like the manual says and the guide loads pretty quick, the fan on this machine has always been quiet you have to be right over it to hear anything.

Hi guys

Where is the cheapest place I can pick one of these up (not ebay)?

Some of the cheapest prices I found are:
Amazon £176
CW Digital £165
Comet £195
Martin Dawes £169

Know of any better prices?

Re: Humax 9300T PVR Owners Thread

Hi all,

I have a 9300T and have been watching the messages with interest as the fan is noisy. I've tried to install the updates many times but just keep getting the E-HW error. I've tried everything mentioned and still can't get it to work (auto, manual, reset to default).

The problem now is that it would appear that the update is no longer available. Can anybody advise on what I should do now?

Cheers
Tony

Hi Tony

I understand that they will repeat the over-the-air update in the next few weeks.

Re: Humax 9300T PVR Owners Thread

Does anyone know if the firmware update has done anything to stop 4:3 material being stretched to 16:9 on the HDMI connection? Heard this was fixed with an update on the satellite box so was hoping they would do the same with this one?

Does the 9300, like the 9200, have facility for USB transfer to PC? If so, does it, like the 9200, use Media E-linker with its unbelievably high upload-failure rate?

The 9300 has no external archive option other than real time copying to an external recorder. There is a usb port but it look's very unlikely to be ever implemented. In my opinion swapping USB archiving for the largely useless HDMI upscaler was a big mistake. Incidentally Media Controller works fine with my 9200T if a little slow.

Re: Humax 9300T PVR Owners Thread

My 9300 is really frustrating (apart from the loud fan)

It turns itself on every morning at 4am with no reason seemingly to do so and the only way to turn it off is to completely unplug it for several minutes before plugging it back in (if not its completely unresponsive with remote or butttons, and no display at all on screen)

this is because it is searching for update. to disable this you to do this, which it does say to do in the manual.

Thank you for pointing this out (and the private message)

I was more concerned that it kept on freezing and I couldnt turn it off by remote after it attempted the update, and had to unplug it completely for it to regain responsiveness

However funnily enough I think last night it completed its "cycle" all on its own and turned itself off (or maybe I just dont remember grabbing the remote lol, but it definitely turned itself off lol)

Thanks again and will remember to disable the update when I get home - cheers again

Re: Humax 9300T PVR Owners Thread

I bought one of these a few weeks ago after buying a 9150T for my ex-wife. I love it and am not that bothered by the fan as I have a desktop PC in the same room and one seems to cancel the other out.

All thanks to the sound advice I got from this forum and it's learned members.

Re: Humax 9300T PVR Owners Thread

On two occassions recently, I have got up to find the following message on the LED display the 9300T: "E-OS"

I'm guessing this is "error operating system" and that an update has failed?

Anyone else had this?

On page 71 of the manual explains EOS (or E05) is an update failure.

Not had the error myself, my update was waiting for me when I came home from work.

Re: Humax 9300T PVR Owners Thread

Hi guys,

Interesting comments for the 'Hummie' 9300T.
I've had mine about a week now and well pleased with it. - Particularly with quality of the tuner(s). - I'm in a pretty weak signal area and find the odd Freeview channel (through TV) goes 'awry'. - Not so with the 'Hummie'!

As for the infamous fan noise. - What fan noise? - It must be updated version I've purchased?
Re. trudds message. - Just what is display message 'E-HW'? - Woke this morning to find this displayed and the cooling fan running. - Couldn't do anything with it until I shut off and re-powered!

Keep 'em coming guys...

Regarding the E-HW error code: I've just found this and I'll give that a try.

(It would appear that the 9300 is not completing an OTA update.)

Thanx for the heads up Steve.

I'll bear in mind for future ref. - Although I did try 'Menu' as well as every other button on the remote at the time. - Nothing seemed to happen!!!
We'll see next time?....

The above would seem to be correct.

Mine has just updated to software version 1.00.15 and hopefully it'll be ok now.
