Humax 9150T - Some questions!

Looking to get one of these for a relative. They currently have a Toshiba LCD TV with built in freeview tuner and TUTV cam slot (which they mostly use for setanta sports).

1) Will the setanta card slot straight into the 9150T and be available to record from.

2) Does the 9150T have any major issues?

3) Is it worth going for the 9300 over this one? As I think they'd be happy with 160gb storage.

4) Any more advice would be welcome

Thanks

Hi ninjabaz,
Just bought one from Richer Sounds (5 year warranty for 10% of price and money back if you dont claim)
It has noisey fan..to be fixed by over the air update on 5/12/08..I hope
9300 has clock and channel number on front display I think...9150 has l.e.d for on, recording, standby

Re: Humax 9150T - Some questions!

Hi NinjaBaz

I have an LCD 40" TV and decided to go for the 9300T because it has HDMI connection, 320GB hard drive, 2 tuners and has had excellent reviews. Also, the fan noise has been fixed with a firmware update.

A bit more expensive though!

Re: Humax 9150T - Some questions!

They'll have to move the CAM with the card in it, from the IDTV to the PVR.
They may need a current subscription to Setanta at the time they come to replay programmes recorded from that channel.

Leave it in standby and it's completely automatic, provided you don't turn off OTA updates in the menu

Re: Humax 9150T - Some questions!

I got one of these for my Dad, but I missed the software update. He has reported strange random recordings, but he has an aerial problem in that BBC channels are weak and occasionally too blocky to watch. I wondered if the new aerial he is getting will solve this or whether it is an earlier software bug? I remember my old Pace twin was a lot better after the last update.

I hope it gets sorted one way or the other as I'm on the phone as 'tech support' and a 160 miles round trip otherwise.

Re: Humax 9150T - Some questions!

Hi, sorry to hi-jack the thread. I also have been looking into buying a humax 9150t.
Does the update definantly cure the fan noise?

also whilst in comet yesterday i see this unit and enquired abt top up tv as i want setanta. they tried to sell me setanta pack that included a card reader and the card, that slips in to the right handside of the unit?? is this right and will it simply work providing i register the pack etc??

many thanks steve
