Humax 9300 EPG recording query

Hi

I have just bought the 9300 and have a few questions about recording using the EPG and series link.

From experience of other users how reliable is recording by scheduling using EPG? I have the time settings set to "on time" for recording.

Am I better to record programs by adding a bit of padding to each scheduled recording? I know that will break the series link bit but if it means I won't miss a start or end of a program will this be a better option?

Just wondered what other peoples experience is when they want to record programs.

Thanks.

Re: Humax 9300 EPG recording query

For me, with a 9200, setting AR/SL from the EPG works adequately with BBC/ITV/C4 channels.
However Five has a poor record with AR, so for that and channels like Dave and Virgin, I think the concensus is to adjust each event individually to start earlier, which will turn of AR/SL for each adjusted event but AR/SL will still be used on events which have not been edited. Remember to set the appropriate repeat (once, weekly, weekday, weekend) for edited series events.

I have the same PVR and I am happy with the results it gives me IE recording. if you ad a few minutes to the beginning and the end of a recording then you have trouble when one program you wont to record follows the one you are recording.

If the 9300 has autopadding (like the 9200) then there is no problem with consecutive recordings as the padding is automatically dropped in these circumstances. This also works if auto padding creates a timer resource clash

Re: Humax 9300 EPG recording query

My 9200's are set for autopadding one min early, three mins later for all recordings to cover the early starts and over-runs on BBC2/BBC4 and occasionally Ch.4. The best on time station is Film 4.

I do not use series link.
