How to format a Tomson PVR (Top Up TV) hard drive?

Hi,

My Top Up Tv PVR recently got stuck in standby so Ive removed the hard drive it worked fine - my conclusion being that the hard drive is the problem.

I'd think that a format would sort it out, but Im stuck in a catch 22 as I cant format the drive using the PVR as if I plug it back in, the box refuses to initialise and stays in standy.

Ive connected the rogue drive to my PC via IDE cable. Windows recongnised it but refused to mount the drive. Ive since found out its formatted in Linux? Is this right? If yes, how the hell do I format it?

Cheers...John

If you are still having problems with this, I wrote a guide here: Kafka's World

Sorry for linking but I am not going to write it all out again here.
