Humax 9150T

I have just bought a Humax 9150t from the Humax website, a Grade A model. These are reduced in price but still have a 1yr guarantee.I am finding the instruction manual very confusing especially as the illustrations are grey on very dark grey.
For a start there is no explanation of the meaning of the
indicator lights on the fron panel. The 2 green lights come on separately or both together. The red light on the left seems to indicate recording.
I inadverdantly started an instant recording. How does one stop that? Nothing I did with the remote seems to work.

Re: Humax 9150T

Press the STOP button (square label in the transport button group on the handset). A dialogue box will appear, if one recording is active you will be asked to confirm to stop it, if two recordings are active you will be asked to highlight Rec1 or Rec2 to choose which to stop, or the default is cancel which exits the dialogue box without stopping recording(s).

Instant recordings should actually stop at the billed time for the end of the current programme (in the EPG), unless you override that by adjusting the end time.

Re: Humax 9150T

Thank you for the replies. I am getting somewhat old and I failed to notice that there are legends below the indicator lights.
My next problem is "Time on/off"
It seems to me that when "Power on/off" is used I can't set the unit to "Standby". The fan still runs. If I just set the unit to record a programme later on without using Power on/off I can switch the unit off with the Standby button. If I have to leave it running so as to record a programme at a later time, what is the point of having Power on/off? Have I missed something here? We don't watch a great deal of TV and I don't want to leave the unit running for a long period if we are out for a few hours during the day.

there is a thing called a power save in the menus on the humax 9300t so there sould be the same for your model, also turn off auto search for updates as this turns the units fan on at night, but i am not sure how simialr the 9300 is with the 9150

Re: Humax 9150T

Thank you Wingnut 121. I am still learning. I must say my old VCR never gave me any problems. It recorded and stopped at the correct times. So far this Humax has failed to record twice. When this happened the box remained absolutely inert. The fan was running, the "standby" and "TV" lights were on but when I switched on the TV, the legend "No Signal" appeared on the screen. Then the Humax would not respond to its remote at all. Pressing the "Standby" button did nothing. Eventually switching the Humax on and off by the switch at the back brought it to life. If it goes on like this it will have to go back.

Re: Humax 9150T

im thinking of getting one of these, can anyone tell me what they think of it??

also ive heard that the response time of the EPG is very slow, i couldnt live with this if it is, if not can anyone recommend a PVR with twin tuners and a fast updating EPG

Most pvrs certainly the better ones upgrade the epg on switch on and don't buffer the epg to non volatile memory or the HDD(this ensures up to date info). Total epg population time is around 10 mins but a Topfield 5800 seems to load the popular channels more quickly than the Humax pvrs. You can however use a TAP (a free programme add on) to the Topfield to allow buffering of the epg to the HDD. I don't bother with my Toppy 5800 as the programme I want to record is usually already in the epg after switch on. Sadly the opposite applies to my Humax 9200 which I would definitely use an equivalent to the Toppy tap, sadly this facility is not available on the Hummy.

Have you considered the freesat route , the new Foxsat-HDR twin tuner High Definition pvr loads it's much larger epg in around 30 seconds
