Humax 9200TBX 320GB

Hi everyone

After instruction from my grandson I have purchased this unit.

Overall I'm happy with this unit.

I can record 2 channels at the same time and still watch a 3rd if it is on the same multiplex of one of the other used channels - very impressive!

Series Link is really good, not as advanced as Sky's, but makes things much easier.

I don't like the TV guide side on view, as I prefer the guide to show one channel at a time with all the programmes on show, as it can get a bit confusing showing multiple channels and only displaying part of the programmes name.

Picture quality is good, but find my Netgem I-Player to be sharper, both connected using RGB via Flagship Profigold scart leads.

The remote I loved at first until I found that to use alot of the features you have to pull down the fascia to reveal the tiny hidden buttons.

Pausing and rewinding live TV is a sinch, no complaints.

Has anyone tried connecting an MP3 player to the unit or is the unit only compatible with a PC with the supplied software?

Is the unit compatible with a keyboard as the search takes a while with the remote and eventually I can see the remote suffering from wear and tear quite sharpish.

Can anyone enlighten me about the power function for an aerial, the manual states if I have an active indoor aerial, well I have a regular aerial so I turned this off, but I wonder if it acts as a signal booster?? I didn't want to experiment in case I damage the unit.

How does the commercial skip work?

Thanks AV-Nan (Jessie)

Do yourself a favour and remove the cover permanently. ALL the useful buttons are under it.

PC only though there is 3rd party software that usually works better. Forget the MP3 support, its flaky anyway.

No.

It feeds power on the aerial cable to power masthead amplifiers. Only enable it if you have one. Most wall plug signal amps have their own power.

Hit the skip buttons, it just jumps a fixed time (30s forward,7 back by default) - they're tiny ones under the panel you've hopefully now removed

Re: Humax 9200TBX 320GB

Given the usual request is to see more channels shown on the EPG I doubt you'll ever see a single channel view added. Frankly I'll be disgusted if they waste time on something like that while serious bugs remain unfixed.
