Where to buy a VCR?

I still have thousands of old tapes - but I can't seem to find anyone who still stocks a decent VCR deck with an audio dub facility - can anybody help?

Re: Where to buy a VCR?

Might be worth putting a wanted ad in the forum's classified section. VCRs do come up there from time to time.

Vidmarc

My parents bought one, in Sainsbury's yesterday, for under £40..not sure exactly how much as they had some Nectar points to use towards it.

It's a foreign make..not sure which one..but they are happy with it. Also, I looked on a website where you compare prices for things (not sure if I'm allowed to mention it here or not - me a newbie)..and it came up with two different ones.

If you need more help, please let me know.

Good luck!

Re: Where to buy a VCR?

Ah yes vidmarc I see you are another person with a need for a vcr...it amazes me that all these companies just assume that there is no need for VCRs anymore!

Try this...ring up some post production/duplication/editing professionals and see if you can make them an offer they can't refuse.

I'm pretty sure places like that would still have some very good quality ones even if they are used.
