I have an Hitachi HDR081 which up until yesterday was working perfectly.
Now I cannot get sound and picture when trying to watch freeview through it.
All other functions appear to work.I can still record and view playback and when I select different stations on the TV I still get the info bar on the bottom of the screen.I know the ariel is OK as terrestial TV is still fine.I have made sure all connections are secure and have even run a channnel scan again.The only thing I have not yet done is a full "first time "installation again.
Anyone got any ideas?

The very first thing to try with unexplained problems like that is to force a reboot. Unplug it, leave for 30 seconds or so, and plug it back in.

The EPG on my Hitachi has been playing up the past few days - e.g. the the blue panel which appears at the foot of the screen when you change channel is showing current and next programme from about 6 hours previously - i.e watching a prog at 6.00pm it shows the details of current and next progs which were aired at 12 noon.
There are also a few channels in the EPG which show no information at all and for some reason scrolling to the right to look at later listings seem to just stop a few hours ahead of the current time.

I will also try njp's advice of a reboot and see if that helps.
