Question Panasonic VCR - NV-HD675 - Video out port??

Apologies in advance if I am being as thick as 2 short planks. I have recently purchased the Dazzle Instant DVD Recorder that is supposed to let me convert VHS tapes to DVD. All sounds good except I have cabling issues with our VCR, the Panasonic NV-HD675. Could somebody tell me where the Video out port is meant to be? My machine has the video and audio "in" ports on the front behind the drop down door, but on the back, I can only see the red and yellow "audio out" ports, but not one for "video out". Then there are two scart ports, both of which I have tried the composite cable (plugged into a scart adaptor) both to no avail. Perhaps if it were a snake, it would bite me but I cannot see the video out port. Surely if it has audio out ports, it must have video out? The Dazzle I've bought is completely useless otherwise. Help

What am I doing wrong?

The only way of getting video out is via one of the 2 scart sockets. Or RF, which is of no use to you.

Re: Panasonic VCR - NV-HD675 - Video out port??

I have tried both the scart sockets, but neither work to send the signal out. Software just send "Not receiving signal, check cables". Cables are brand new. Video is by no means very old either and seems to be otherwise in perfect working order.

I'm very frustrated by it. More frustratingly, I looked up the manual for this model on line and the diagram of the back of the video clearly shows a video out port, along with the audio out ports. But our vcr does NOT have these ports, only 2 scart ports in their place

Re: Panasonic VCR - NV-HD675 - Video out port??

There is no 'video out port' other than the scart sockets on this model.

I'd be very surprised if the VCR's at fault.

Connect the VCR to a TV via scart to prove it...

Re: Panasonic VCR - NV-HD675 - Video out port??

Yes, it definitely works to show video on the tv. That is part of the process of the video capture so it's definitely working. But as that scart runs to the tv to produce the picture on the screen, I need another port at the same time to run to the Dazzle. And using a composite cable plugged into a scart adaptor to the scart port and then run to the Dazzle does not work.

Tearing my hair out. Thanks for taking the time to try to help tho

Re: Panasonic VCR - NV-HD675 - Video out port??

Hello Louise.

If I understand the dazzle input system correctly, it has a breakout box with red/white/yellow phono sockets plus an S socket.

Therefore, if you are connecting by scart, I presume you are using a scart to triple phono lead - yes?

One thing you need to know... these leads are configured either to act as input leads or output leads. They cannot be both. [ unless they are a switched type - Switch would be on the scart plug ]

So it would seem likely you need the opposite type [ or a switched version ].

[ EDIT - I wrote this before your 9:27 posting - so some point require clarification ]

Red face Re: Panasonic VCR - NV-HD675 - Video out port??

Thanks Gavtech. That would be the only thing that would make sense of why it is not working. I'm gonna actually take the vcr and all my cables to an electrical shop this afternoon to ENSURE that I get the right cable this time around. Have been trying to make this work for well over a week now...

I'll be back on later if it still doesn't work after that, so let's hope you dont see me again, if you know what I mean!

Unless the scart adapter has a switch to select IN/OUT, it will probably be wired for IN, ie. to connect the output of a games console or camcorder to the input scart of a TV or VCR.
You simply need a switched scart adapter and switch it to make it OUT as required by the input on the Dazzle.

(Sometimes the second scart of a VCR is input only, so depending you may need to connect it to the scart you currently have connected to the TV).

Thumbs up Re: Panasonic VCR - NV-HD675 - Video out port??

Guys thank you SOOOOO much, after purchasing a switched scart adaptor, I am happily converting vhs tapes to dvds!!!!

Thanks so much. I am just about to ask a question about a humming noise whilst converting directly from the camcorder to the dvd!! Will do that on the correct forum though.

But again, many thank you's for your very helpful advice!! It's nice to have a happy ending after so many hours' frustration.
